Dog comics are all the rage nowadays. Who doesn’t love to read about talking dogs and silently relate with the comical, talking dog characters? We tend to translate the barks of our pets into human language. But to do that with added humor and precision that makes people fall more in love with their doggos? Now that’s what a good artist can do. Among many such artists, one is gaining quick popularity with her artistic portrayal of a pug’s life.
Gemma Gene, a multi-skilled artist from Barcelona, now living in New York loves her pug, Mochi. She misses him a lot when she has to leave him back at home for work. This led her to create a comic avatar for Mochi, and every dog parent can relate to the little pug’s story. She says about this series, “The main characters are Mochi, my husband Peli and me.”
She also tells us about Mochi on her website. “Mochi is a very happy and sweet pug that sees life in a particular way. He is super sweet and well behaved, but he can be very sassy and pretty much does whatever he wants. His favorite activities include sleeping, eating and going for walks, especially when he is being carried.”
Apart from being a comic artist, Gemma also draws, paints and sculpts. But she is best known for these wonderfully scripted short comics that you are about to witness as soon as you reach the end of the next sentence. Have fun!
